William A. Dusenbury was a true mover and shaker during our country's Industrial Revolution era. His life work as a financier and an oil and lumber mogul resulted in making him a multi-millionaire. He was a graduate of his beloved Princeton University and majored in Geology. William is a well known for his benevolence and generous contributions to his industry and many charities. A very-low key person who shunned the lime light, William enjoyed the seclusion of his Hilltop encampment. It's said his workforce reconstructed a forty acre mountain top. Large hard wood and evergreen trees were planted. Five authentic Redwood buildings were built surrounded by rock and water gardens linked together with stone pathways. The whole project took years to build during the time of the great depression. As a bachelor William used the Hilltop to entertain and influence many powerful and famous people. Rudy Vallee was one of those people who enjoy being an overnight guest in the Dusenbury lodge.
